Hello from Minnesota! I joined because I am addicted to ponds! I have two one is about 1200 gal and the other is 300 gal approximately. I have built one for my mom and got her addicted too. Every couple years we go just a little bit bigger. LOL I am having trouble with my bigger one. I have a jabao filter and can't find the right size replacement pads, I have decided that this company doesn't stand behind their product. But I hate to buy a new filter system. What external system with UV do you all like? Thanks much!!

welcome and why not go cheap and build your own filter system .it can be as easy as a tote some lava rock and a tank adapter and cheaper than buying 1 of those things that do not work .I have been using lava rock for over 11 years and it was good enough for my dad when i was growing up for his pond it is good enough for me ,crushed oyster shells to stabilize ph

Welcome to our forum!
I have 3 homemade filters: a shower filter, a moving bed filter and a sand/pebble filter, run from 2 pumps with mechanical pre-filtration. I don't have UV because my algae is naturally controlled.

I think many hobbyists eventually build their own filters because it's a fun thing to do.

Welcome, I use Savio filters so I can't be much help. There are many filters out there that will work. I am sure you will get a few more ideas here.
