I have 4 orange koi that I've always wondered about. I never see shots of koi that look like these so it makes me think they are very undesirable patterns. First off they are very light orange like a goldfish. One is solid, the other 3 have some white patches, but the white patches aren't white at all, they're just super light orange. I don't mind them, the pure orange one is my biggest fish by far so he's cool, but I've always wondered if there is a difference between orange and red in kois. They talk about the Hi being red, but these guys are most definitely not red, is that a bad thing, and are their markings bad? Are these just mutt fish that no one will love but me?

Here is the pure orange one and one of the orange and whites.

Oh and here is one of my koi with what I would consider true red, much different than the orange. Is one more desirable than the other?
