Has anyone heard of people using 10 mil plastic sheeting as a pond liner? The stuff you can buy at home depot.

Not a good idea, imho, pond liners are quite a bit thicker.

Yep your talking 1mil vs 45mil. You could get a hole or tear in that thin stuff pretty easy I'm thinking!

I saw one built like that and had a constant leak and it was taken apart and fish had to be moved to rebuild with a new liner don't give yourself that headache .

I used some of that to keep my ground dry and shoes clean as I dug my pond. When I took it out it had 3 small holes in it and one large one.

Naw, the true rednecks would use a blue one, and tent stakes to hold it down to the ground.

Nope, they would just use duct tape.

I wouldn't suggest that to worst enemy.....well maybe a few, but....You are just asking for problems with using that as a liner. Def go with a actual pond liner. Will save yourself a lot of work down the road.

I did this when I was a teenager with My first pond since I had little money for a liner and it actually held up a couple years but I still would never recommend it. I always drained it in winter so it wouldn't freeze and took all my fish inside.
