Hi all - it's my first time posting in a forum like this. I dug a pond in my garden last year (about 2m across and circular) and have allowed it to do its natural thing. Frogs and newts have made it their home and I love watching them. A couple of months ago I put a few plants in (I already had a few waterlilies in there) from the local garden centre. Since then I have noticed black blob-like jelly attaching to the sides and to the stems of the plants. Every time I look, more has grown. I don't know what it is or if it's harmful but it looks pretty hideous!
I would be grateful for any advice and info! I'm in Cornwall, UK.
