I found a baby painted turtle in my yard this morning! Couldn't believe it when I saw it.

Since it was on a path toward a busy road, I decided to bring it over to the nearest natural pond.

Herself dropped in again this morning, she's learned to land on the lily tub. In the last one, she's telepathically telling the bullfrog what she thinks of him. :rage:

At this point I shouldn't be surprised, but I am. I found a THIRD baby turtle. This one found my pond! I was sitting out by the pond and thought I saw a bottle cap in the woodchips along the pond. I didn't know why a bottle cap would be by my pond, but I walked over to pick it up and realized it was a turtle. I kinda want to just leave it and see what happens. Although I don't think it stands a chance against my bullfrogs.

I'm wondering how many more there are. If I remember correctly they typically lay around 5 eggs, but can lay twice as many. The warm, humid weather we've had lately is what's been drawing them out. I'm constantly watching every step I take because they'd be so easy to miss.

This bird might be a Bullocks Oriole. Taken a couple of days ago from my game camera pointing at my little pond.
Sorry, but that's about as good of a picture I can get.

I usually only get finches and sparrows, and now the blackbirds have moved in to nest.

So, quite excited to see him.

I was surprised today when a 4 inch owl feather floated into the yard - sure enough, I looked around and there they sat, directly above the pond at the tippy top of an oak tree...snuggling :)
