Preparing for Winter

Well since I have a 250 gallon pond and live in zone 7 Ive been trying to prepare for winter. Im ordering a 1268 gph pump to run all winter and move the water on the surface. The fish will have hiding spots. Will the pump be able to make it through the winter? Also I have a net now but before I was able to put it up, a few dozen leaves have fallen to the bottom. Is there a easy way to remove them without pulling them out one by one.

Well I also found this, has anyone had experience with tetra pond.

I use a net to get the leaves out
And Your pump should make it through the winter keep it up higher in the water

i have 3 tetrapond pumps...425gph.....1000gph....1200gph..........the 1200 is about 8 years old..

Thanks, ill use a net, I didnt want to bother my fish is I could help it. and koiguy, do you run your through the winter, also do they need a prefilter.

i use my 1000 gph pump 24/7/365... i close my outdoor pond in the winter and my fish come inside to my 800 gal wintering pond.
