Putting In A Fountain

I would like to use this as a base for a fountain. I would like to keep it above ground. Planning on doing outside in brick. How should ground be prepared for base ? Have a cement fountain which is heavy going in center.

You don't say how large the base is or how heavy the fountain is, so to be on the safe side, I would put 6-10 inches of screenings (a.k.a. rock dust) below the ground, well tamped, on hard soil.

Base is 5 feet. Not sure which fountain I am going to use.

Lion fountain much lighter. Cement was gift and has a lot of memories for me.

Definitely 6-10 inches of screenings on compacted soil...with the screenings well tamped.
