yes blanket weed because it looks a bit like string algae and like mat algae hence blanket weed

i think what you need to do is to get the muck on the bottom into your bottom drain ... i myself think that the problem, not enough water movement to push it there

Thanks, I will take all this info and figure out what to do. I have vacuumed the sediment out once or twice. I may attempt a settlement tank but not sure how to retrofit into my current plumbing system. It will give me something to do over the winter!
