Skimmer eats floating plants

Not any more. :D Hay string floats, so I just stretch a piece of old hay string across the pond, and keep the floaters on the back side of the string. ;) Some times there will be the odd baby plant get past the string, but not as bad as all the big ones ganging up on the skimmer.
Those of you with horses, and the same plant eating skimmer problem, may give it a go. It's free and I know you have plenty. ;)

Is hay string was we might call baling twine? I know people have recommended fishing line for this purpose as well. Good thinking - I love creative problem solving!

Yes, baling twine, but not the jute twine, only the plastic based twine. The Jute will rot away. ;)
