Lol. I was 40 a few weeks back Dave and that felt bad enough. feel for you mate. Was given the pond budget (woefully inadequate) for my 40th - the way its going I'll be glad to have the thing finished by the time I hit your years!
They do say your as young as you feel though

Well here is a newer one i snapped while i was sitting by the pond this morning after my bike ride. Pretty early so the sun was just barely coming up so the water looks pretty dark.
I'll try to get some good ones this weekend.

99 your Iris are getting tall. Did they bloom already this year or are they too young yet? Bet w/ your hot weather coming the water lettuce really takes off for you. Your plants all around the edge of your pond are growing and those too will be lush and lovely all filled in I bet! So are all those hardy or do you have to take some inside in winter?

My iris have bloomed already J.W., you should actually see the ones on the left right out of view of my camera in my barrel filter, they are huge. Water lettuce and hyacinth are starting t spread already, I was disappointed in the quality they had this year but I bought some anyway and a week later they are already starting to reproduce. Everything around the pond comes back every year, the cannas and the elephant ears are the only bulbs I dig up every fall and replant in the spring.

My iris are almost done blooming here. Still have one lone one trying to produce maybe one last one. My water iris are almost done too. You have more heat where you are for the water lettuce and hyacinth to really grow good. We have next to none. Oh so the elephant ear would freeze if you left it out there. Not sure if it would have to be taken in here or not. If it didn't I might think about getting some. I'm done having plants I have to dig up and take in for winter.
