I had to put down milky spore to get rid of the grubs and the moles are slowly going away since they have no food source ,Can't get rid of the worms but at least the grubs are gone and I did notice last summer there was not as many mole tunnels like I saw before .Moles chewed through the liner of my pond .Lots of milky spore went under and around the edges of the hole before the double under liner went down

Since the weekend weather was above 60 and no rain, decided to start digging hole for bigger lower liner. Got the center section dug fairly decent, just have to start on shelf sections and get the depth I want. I forsee some other digging around where ground slopes down, don't need rainwater flooding pond. Not totally sure about orientation, but I can always re-dig and turn it.
A lot of digging, but much easier than when it was dry and hard back in the summer.

Started back at it after a too long hietus, been a wet spring. My best buddy was helping me last night, well, more supervising than helping. I need to get this going soon, need to get the fish out of basement pond.

Well, been a while since I updated, .....life
I spent the Saturday evening of memorial day weekend and got down into digging out most of the clay, worked for several hours. Monday evening I went to grab the fridge door, twisted around and I was done...or my back was, I literally couldn't move for 5 mins and for the next few weeks, I could barely function. I tried to get back on it in late June but back still wouldn't let me. Then it got hot, other things took priority, took son to college, daughter started marching band etc.
So, finally been back on it the last couple weeks, finished digging hole, leveled liner, used sand on bottom, sides etc.
Then a few days later we got a super heavy rain storm, you can see in the pic how much water collected during storm. Ended up being 55 gals as I pumped it off into a drum to re-use since we have a bad well, ....free water, no use in wasting it (y) Due to not having it landscaped yet, the rain also washed out around the sides and underneath and actually raised liner on the backside so out it came and I am re-leveling it now. :banghead: Hope to get water in it and some stone around the liner and set. I also have to figure out my plumbing as I will be pumping from lower pond up to top one then a small trickle fall back down.
I also had a tragedy about 3 weeks ago, huge storm came through, took out 2 trees and electric was out for over 12 hrs. My temporary water trough-pond in the basement was overloaded and I had no battery back up or generator......:cry::cry::cry::cry:
I lost over half my fish, two of my favorites, but I still have 8-10 and am looking into generators. I took pic with key fob for size comparison.

Well, went off on a weekend trip with the wife, son texts the first night they had a bad storm and tree came down over my carport and ponds. I had just drained and removed the upper liner a couple weeks ago to raise and reset it, I laid it upside down over hole, tree got it. Bottom pond was untouched besides full of debris and shavings from chainsaw, son cut up a lot before we got home. Limb just missed carport, but took out chain link fence, lattice fence and cracked my liner. Thankfully I have another identical one I can use. 20170521_174349.jpg 20170521_180651.jpg 20170521_174456.jpg 20170521_174413.jpg

My son had a lot of it cleaned up before I got home, he said he's surprised it didn't beak my canister filter I have on lower pond, branches were lying right on it.
We went to Brown County IN for weekend, I told my wife it seems every time we go there in May, we come home to a down tree, 2 yrs ago a tree nearly fell on my Tahoe. We need to stop going there in May, haha
