I love the idea of this thread, makes you realize all things are possible with a little hard work, (and a ton of rock, sweat, tears, wood, plants, fish, etc... )

Do you get a lot of grass clippings in the pond when you mow between the pond and fence?
Yes that is an issue, I am planning to make a home made skimmer sometime soon to collect the debris (difficult to net out debris with all of the plants)....and I have added a decorative fence around the pond since my newish chocolate lab seems to want to jump in the pond otherwise....

What a great thread! I'm glad someone resurrected this. I started by having the septic company put two big "scars" in our yard. Then a month's worth of hard labor turned into great results!

And some pics from today:

My poor weeping larch got darn near eaten to death by caterpillars, but he's on the mend now!

I'll be moving soon... So this is only an interim pond. My next house won't be in town, so I'll have better scenery behind it at least!

Addy i'm sure your less then thrilled with photo bucket and all your posts droping the photos I can see in the photo from 2012 you have spent 1,000's of hours on your labor of love. The saying goes a picture is worth a thousand words well in that photo I'm sure it doesn't even begin to show the blood sweat and tears.

Yep not going to pay photobucket to have the photos. refuse.............. I have them could repost and fix, but...

It kept me busy while dear hubby finished up his years in the gov. He is now retired and we seem even busier. Most of the yard and pond are self sufficient, I can ignore for the most part. Except some weeds that are just a pita, mainly vines that grow everywhere here and poison ivy.

The way I built the pond I can totally ignore it all summer with no issues.

What a change I did not even realize the change in mine until now
One reason I take pictures of every project we start. The brain forgets the before in a way.
