Hello,

I was wondering if someone could give me an idea of what kinds of koi I have in my pond. These are the newest ones I recently picked up.
The last yellow one was from a spawn--the only survivor a couple years ago.

I'll go through my photos of the bigger kids and post them too.

Thank You

Hi, and welcome to the group. If you are just looking for color names for curiousity, I would say the first three pictures are "Matsuba LIKE" ... I have some like these, and I call MINE Matsuba Mutts ... I dont want to hurt your feelings using the mutt word like I do on mine ... They are still pretty fish. All I mean is they are not 100% true to color standard, but the closest to this color than any other, as far as I can see in the pictures. The black and white guy is shiro bekko ... the white guy looks colorless in the pictures, and is likely shiro muji ... if metallic it would be platinum ogon...

Thank You. It doesn't hurt my feelings at all. I'm sure my pond is full of just mutts. Usually just buy what looks good at the time. It's always nice to know what you have in there or at least the best guess.

Unless one really wants to get into high end Koi, which can cost as much as a house, I say just buy what YOU like. I have plenty of mutts, and all that is important is that I like what is in my pond :) Having some color names to refer to helps with keeping fish straight. Those without color names have some funky nicknames.

Thanks everyone for the great information. Here are a few photos of the bigger ones. Not the best quality.

Would I post pond photos here also or is that another page?

Think I got carried away:)
