Only just 4 days later and I have about 5 pads at the surface and more on the way!

Looking good dude. My lily is still adjusting to our Washington weather. It he been all over the map lately, from the low 50s to the high 70s.
My latest project has been building a small bog planter. I will posts about it soon.

:)I started my ponding career with the whiskey barrel water garden too. I just had one problem-a yellow lab. One afternoon, while talking to a neighbor, the pump started making a funny noise. Further investigation revealed my yellow lab happily sitting in the barrel with water pumping out behind her. My neighbor said, “hey, I bet you have the only doggie bidet in Ohio!” Thus the barrel became a planter and we dug a pond. Sorry I just couldn’t resist.

So much growth recently!! The pads are really big too! I wish my lilies in the big pond were putting out this size and quantity of pads. The pickerel rush is getting really big as well. I hope it starts blooming soon.

So these pictures are from last Friday (I believe) but I didn’t get around to posting them since I’ve been dealing with other stuff. Since then the plants have continued to thrive and I think it’s about time for a BIG water change (and possibly remove the fertilizer spikes) so I can get the nitrates down and introduce some minnows.

I’ll upload some more pictures tomorrow so we’ll be able to compare the growth in the last 5 days.

Thanks @bettasngoldfish I tested the nitrates this last weekend and it was somewhere in the 40-80 ppm range. It’s hard to distinguish the two on my API reference chart. I’ll retest tomorrow and post the results with the new pictures that I’ll be taking.

Looks awesome. This is making me itch to get out and get mine going. I would have by now but I want to seal the wood per someone's suggestion earlier in this thread.
