I have a 695gal. Stock tank that I want to use as a pond. I'm wondering if I should put it partway under ground or insulate it so it will not freeze up over winter? The tank has a -40 degree rating material wise and is 23 in. Deep. I live in zone 6a in ohio. Any ideas on this? Should I wrap it in insulation for winter or pack dirt around it? Do you think it would provide shelter for my fish? I have a few comets and goldfish and one koi.

My stock tanks are one side buried one side exposed, with just a bit of dirt/rocks to hide the tank. I live on a slope......... we are 6b the tanks do fine.
They are 2.5 feet deep or so

A kubota? Dang, that's better than diamonds! You are one lucky lady. I can only imagine what I could do with one of those!!!!!! I would love it.
My stock tank will probably only house my goldfish and babies. But I've got the ponding bug! I'd dig up my whole back yard if I could! I love being outside messing with it.

Just my comets and a few goldfish babies. I have another small pond that is deeper but small. I wanted to give the fish extra room. And since my neighbor gave me the stock tank, I wanted to make use of it. I'm in zone 6a.
