Ive made more progress for the filter border. I had loads of granite bricks left over from a patio project, so I decided to use these as the base of the border. Simply laid on sand.

Next, I filled the gaps with rock dust, and set about creating a raised border covering the pond liner.

Next the finished item (this far, I still need to sort out an idea for replacing what is currently a strawberry patch behind the filter).

As you can see in the pics above, I've left the filter such that there are little pools of water open to the air rather than 100% covered by shingle. The idea was that it (a) looks nice, and (b) is good for nature. However the water does develop a lot of bubbly algae, and also harbours what I think are blackfly larvae. Should I just add more shingle and get rid of the little pools?

Great work you have done!
It looks really nice!

My bog has some water above the gravel, but I think the constant flow keeps anything from infesting. I do see the occasional frog jumping around in there. Maybe they are taking care of any bugs or larvae.

Instead of just drilling a hole for anti siphon purposes, I tapped a spitter statue into the bog feed pipe.
If the pump goes off, the water in the spitter reverses and then air gets sucked in, breaking the vacuum.
I works great and I didn't have to add another pump for the spitter. It's an automatic vacuum break.
Did you use the frog or the little boy?

You made it look so great! I like how you started with a circle and then made it look different than your pond in a complimentary way. Your fish will have such clean water!

Wow to 14 ferrets! I always wanted a ferret as a kid, and never got around to getting one as an adult.
