Algae growth, day vs night

Don't have a microscope. It does grow, but tough to say if it would be an algae or not, but it visually appears to be an algae.

The closest I could find as what it might be is possibly some variation of Diatoms. It gets noticeably thicker than what shown on this picture, which is quite likely due to how I am treating my water. It comes and goes and really depends on how often I delay my oxidizing treatments. I am also preparing my pond water to better support a very robust vegateble garden by improving its nutrient volume and including a silica oxide product, that is used in hydroponic systems, to help reduce insect and bacterial infestation.
