Please see attached photos,
My pond is 4000-5000 gallons and only had 1 goldfish in it up until a few days ago - i just added 10 4-5 inch Shubunkins, the strandy stuff was appearing before I added them. I just recently added 2 water hyacinths and a potted lily pad a few weeks ago, in one of the photos you can see the brown stuff is attaching to the roots!

I have 2 55 gal static bed drums
Any idea what any of this stuff is? Thanks so much

Looks like just another type of algae as you thought. In the absence of more concentrated food, the goldfish should work on it.
