Artificial moss

I have a lot of natural moss around my stream/pond. I need something to camouflage my skimmer cover. I'm looking at some kind of artificial moss. Its rather in expensive and I've found some that is UV damage resistant. Any suggestions?

I gave one artificial moss a try and it failed misserably. I dont know where you are but here in the north east there is a type of fern that only grows on boulders. So my plastic cover fake rock the same as used for skimmers. i just placed a group of the fern on it . They are not even shallow rooted they are roots growing on the surface in a tight mass.
Another trick you could do is put some soil on the cover, or even peat moss then take underlayment cut it maybe a little smaller then cover. And secure the fabric to the cover along the edges. Zip ties caulking even watrrfall foam could do the job. I did not cut holes in the fabric i just let the roots grow through it. It can take some time like any planting to get it where youd like.

below are all spots where liner had to be covered or skimmer tops. First is the fabric with some soil under it. As you can see just about every plant has no issues growing in 1/2 of soil under a piece of fabric.

I dont know where you are but here in the north east there is a type of fern that only grows on boulders.

We have a fern that grows naturally on dead wood. It looks like the same as in your photos.

If it has rows of golden dots on the u derside it maybe the same. Looks very similar

I am in southern NH. One method I have used to get moss to grow on my 60 mil rubber liner (and other surfaces) is to grind up some moss until you have enough to fill a one gallon pail. Then add one can of beer (use one that a friend gave you that you don't like...we all have one of those right) and then add 32 ounces of plain yogurt. Mix this up into a paste, you can add a little water, or a little more beer. Smear this on any surface about a half inch thick, then wet your moss and press it into the mixture. Don't water it for a few days unless your temps are over 85 degrees then just light watering.

Id never try to grow on the liner between the heat if any ofnit sees the sun will cook it . But soread it on underlayment / fabric now your talking. Anouther con to on the liner step on it years katter forgetting therees liner there any your going for a hay ride.
