I have a pair of those check valves from a pond we demoed out on a work site, they are a tight fit as @GBBUDD said, but it should fit in there. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Made a little bit of progress today. A lot of moving dirt, but I was able to set the skimmer in place. Finished doing my little DIY concrete liner on the walls for the extra chipmunk peace of mind. Took another look at the check valve and pump and looks like I can make it work. I’m thinking a fernco coupling to make the connection. It is definitely a tight fit though.

I Was able to get the bog geotextile fabric and Epdm liner in place. Not quite ready to do any liner cuts as I need to build a small burm up in certain areas to ensure I get the overflow into the correct corner. Good news is since I over bought slightly on the liner sizes I was able to cover almost the entire stream/waterfall which should make for only one liner seam. I dug out the stream that will feed the waterfall from the bog. At least now my vision can start to make sense to everyone. Hopefully I can get the pond lined tomorrow then start plumbing.

I guess I should of said I’m not ready to trim the liner until everything has been tested. I get what your saying @GBBUDD but their will be to much excess that needs to be trimmed. I can’t tuck and hide all of the excess. Are you saying I should just fold the liner back on itself and then try tuck and hide? I value your input and am just trying to understand.

Nice! Are you rocking the spillway? Looks a bit narrow—like you might not have much room for water once the rocks are in.

I do plan on rocking it in. I had to make it somewhat narrow as that top corner will be redone for additional seating. I wanted guests to be able to step over the spillway to the seating area.

open section.jpg

Thoughts on the open section in red? I am thinking this will most likely require a small retaining wall for the liner to fold over and then hide. Not really enough space to get away with a dirt berm as it would just keep washing onto the patio pathway.

a bit wet outside after a few rainstorms, but I was able to get the pond liner in. Rock shipment arrived today as well.
