My stream and pond has a bit right now too. I will go away once the plants establish a bit more. I have a high duck and fish load which causes excess nutrients so the algae is the first to grow. I also notice the ducks, more so the females feed in the stream. I feel is is very beneficial to have. Sure is does not look all that good but I just leave it. It will completely go away in a couple more weeks. If I get a lot on the pond surface I just net it out.

My little slow flow ponds get full of different kinds of algae. I leave it all for the critters. The lotus tub has that fine floating stuff, it goes away as the lotus grow. The pond right past it is always full of string, warm slow moving water, the tads and other critters get that pond. The bees land on it to drink.
The two big ponds either don't get any or just get a spot here and there.

I see from the various comments that hydrogen peroxide won't harm fish, but what about frogs/toads?

You're on the right track - 3% peroxide is basically harmless, so just keep increasing your dose until you hit the sweet spot. It dissipates pretty quickly.
Will it harm frogs or toads or their eggs?

Nope. I use 3% peroxide to brush my teeth every day. Won't hurt a thing. I also started watering my gardens with hydrogen peroxide last year - great for new plants, and it cleared a garden bed of a fungal issue that several Master Gardeners said would take years to get rid of. Great stuff!
