Broke Thermometer in pond

Most thermometers are not mercury any more. Was it glass? if so see if you can pick up what pieces there are. They may be too tiny to see.

The thermometers that I have seen for ponds and pools are all filled with red tinted alcohol. You should have no problem except for the glass.

I've already broken three of those $#@ things in my pond this year. I'm giving up and getting one of the more expensive rubber-coated types tomorrow. I still have glass somewhere in the rocks, I figure it'll just get ground up in time.

What fun are thermometers if you can't play with the mercury when they break? Used to do that all the time.
