Yeah I'm trying to keep it as something that I enjoy so I'm trying not to rush to get it all done, I'm bad about researching something FOREVER before I finally commit any time or effort to it.

That's how I ended up here months in advance of me even wanting to build one!

I always like to be prepared and try to know what I'm doing even if I have never done it before.

Good for you it will save you a lot of headaches in the long run. Do pictures of your yard and use paint shop to draw in your pond, that helps a lot with visualizing how it will look.

While you are waiting to stick the shovel in the ground.

You can even use the heavy duty landscaping fabric and just double it up if you feel you may not need more than that I put wet sand in mine packed it tight against the sides and tamped the bottom hard and put down an old tarp I had and then landscaping fabric .Made a nice base .I have heavy clay soil so was easy to shape and tamp hard and the tamper hits a rock you hear it go ping

Yeah I plan on trying to get lots of pictures of before and during the process of building it.

Right now I'm still debating on whether I want a more free form shape or a more geometric one.

I guess noone can really help me with that one though, especially having never seen where I'm looking to put it!

no but I went with rectangle and found it was really hard to do the folds flat and looking nice .I almost gave up on that shape but I wanted a bridge and needed the pond raised on 3 sides because I wanted to be able to see and hear it from my front porch .

I'm still debating on all these things... so many options to choose from!

Oh well I'm off to bed, gotta be up at 3 to work another 14 hour night!

I think I may have found some good help and advice from a member. Fishin4cars lives about 40 minutes away and said he and a friend are interested in starting a business and want to get some work in to put in a portfolio.

It'll be good to have some experience hands helping.
