Catching fish

I want to rid my pond of goldfish. They are breeding like crazy every year. What would be the best way (besides draining the pond) to catch them?

If you can see them, then use a minnow net. If you cant see them then a minnow trap. It might be easier if you drop the water level somewhat.

In my opinion if you want to remove them all, you'll have to lower the pond water.

If you like having fish, you might try all one gender, or koi goldfish hybrids, they’re like a mule, sterile!

I have a long handled pond net that I lay in the pond. Then I patiently wait for the babies to swim over it and scoop them up. Sometimes I bait it with flake food, but that also draws fish that I don't want to catch.

Would this work? I'm not sure what to bait it with.

make a square from pvc pipe . Wrap it in netting on all sides but one. Put it in pond with open side in water an bait with fish food. When they swim in, tip it up and you have trapped fish. This can be made to fit most pond sizes. Mine is 4x5'.
