Chlorine in water feature

Hi,
I have a small 160 gal pond. I don't have plants or fish due to a severe raccoon problem. I have a waterfall as well. I have a problem with brown water throughout the season. I am wondering if anyone can tell me if I add low levels of chlorine to the water if it would damage my pump or not. I really want to have clear water and thought adding chlorine might do the trick. any thoughts?. Thanks.

Adding chlorine is NOT the best way to go. Chlorine dissipates in about 24-72 hours so there is no long term benefit to adding it. Use a algae remover like Algaefix every week or 2 weeks as needed.
You can add small fish like guppies, platties or even mollies for colora ndto keep the miscitoes down even in small water features. Good luck, Gail
