Cleaning pump filter often

My small 60 watt pump does a fine job of circulating the water and feeding a little waterfall in my 850 gallon fish pond. Trouble is, I have to clean the pump filter every two days and was wondering if that is normal and if not, what can be done about it. I place the pump a couple of inches from the bottom on a piece of slate and the water is clean with an average amount of algae.

Can try raising it a foot of the bottom, so it gets less mulm that settles there. Is normal for ponds that have a bunch of detritus on the bottom and fine mulm in the water column.
Or as BS (still makes me snicker every time I get to use it) says put in a bog
