So, we moved to this house last july and inherited a lovely pond, which had been put in 4-5years previous, a few weeks ago we noticed it smelt rotten and dad pulled out a dead frog. So after research and asking on here, we decided to clean it out.
Its about i'd say 3ft long, 2ft wide and when my dad first put his arm in the pond, he reckoned about 2ft deep........little did we know, but after so many years and being untouched, the muck on the bottom was disgusting, there was about 9/10inches of muck when we empytied the pool, 2 dead frogs and many newts in the muck too, that wont have helped.
But nows its all cleaned and we're waiting on rain to fill up the last 2/3 inches of the pond, cos we dont wanna use alot of tapwater in it.
We discovered about 20-30 newts and about 50frogs. We were amazed!
But anyway, here are a few pics of the pond and stream, from this year, including cleaning it out, you will be shocked the state it had got too, because the previous owners never cared!
The picture of the stream has a dove in it and i took that today, its only the top half of the stream and you can see the lil bridge going over it at the bottom of the pic
