dead babies !

8 inch are not babies anymore. I call them juveniles. 30 at 8 inches or more, would be too many. So all will eventually get to that size and the 8 in will be even bigger yet.
Time to start building another pond, or finding homes for the ones you can live without. Don't panic, you have time if your systems are working well now.

i was hoping to build another pond a raised one ...but not really sure if i can run to the cost if it ... so i will need to find homes for them ... i have a skippie style filter now but its only a week or so old ... so i have green water as its been very hot this last week and i had to turn off uv as it was part of the old filter ... i have another uv to put in line before the filter but was told not to put it on as filter needs a few weeks ...am i right in this ?

i'd bet some full sun spectrum flourecent grow lights over the tanks would help color developement...alot!!

I hear you, the theory is sound but the practicality is not there with the tanks I have and the area directly above being functional shelving.

If mine were in a pond such as yours that would be easy. I think that is a great idea for wintering over the plants especially.
