Disappearing weeds

Mid summer a lot of weed disappeared from my fish pond, first time in nearly 20 years. I restocked and all seemed fine, then last month the same happened again. The only thing that’s changed is the addition of a more powerful pump. Is there a chance the more powerful flow has battered the weeds.
