Well today was the day to move the baby koi to their new home. After almost two weeks of pure neglect and nature taking it's course this is the final results. i ended up with one huge Toby, and toby will be his name. i should have put him directly in the pond as he's triple or more bigger than the next closest size baby. most are about 1' -1 1/4" long, Toby is close to 3" in only two months! we found the original fry after moving the big fish from the old pond to here. while draining the pond we spotted the babies and as many as we could catch got moved to the 300 gallon QT tub. My friend took about 100 fry and ended up with about a dozen that he's growing in a tank. I removed the one's I could find today and after all the culling ended up with about 13-15 babies. Two appear to be butterfly, one may be a chagoi although it looks to be standard finned, one has some mettalic, and one has a bright blue sheen. Well here are the pics after deleting almost 300 more pics that were blurry or just plain bad this is what I can post. . hope ya'll enjoy.

Toby is the white one that has the most pics of, the red and black pearlscale in one of the pics is a regular tank inhabitant and NOT one of my babies from the spawn.

got a few more pics of some this morning. I think I'm getting one decent photo for every ten I take. LOL I took 86 pics, these are all that I kept that you can actually see the babies clearly. Oh and no pics of Toby today, he's picture hog! I can get a pic of him all I want, but i think I posted enough of him last night.

You have quite a variety of colors on those little ones. I guess being koi they will change pretty drastically as they grow tho. Will be neat to compare what they look like in a year or two.

the ones I raised two years ago have really grown JW. They are over a foot long now, and yes they have changed alot over the two years. The one guy I found in the filter last year is up to about 7-8" If you remember that he was solid yellow, He's really turning out nice but it will never be a big koi. He's yellow and black now and a little chubby guy. It's really more interesting the size difference in the ones from this year. Toby is huge in comparison to all the rest including the ones my fried has. He could easily go into the pond with the big guys. We have found four babies in the big pond that seem to be doing fine with the big guys and tody is way bigger than they are. But since I put the babies in the 75 gallon I have really enjoyed watching them.
I wondered for a while if the babies where goldfish or Koi, other than the really small ones I've seen whiskers on all of the bigger ones and the colors just don't appear to be goldfish on most of the ones that were keepers, the one fish that still makes me wonder about is the sigle brown one. it's shape says goldfish, it's color is that of the Chagoi, lucky, and I don't see barbel on it at all yet. Can't say without certainty that they could be hybrids.

Matt it does, it has a dark grey under lying with a red spot. that's the only color except the white. i'm hoping the red will get at least a ittle bigger.
