Good luck on the build. I dug my 7000 gallon by myself. Throwing dirt up a 4 foot wall and over a 2 foot burm. I was ripped after that(muscle wise).

I just have goldfish in a 2500 gal pond but if I was gonna have koi I would want to make it soooooooooooo much bigger. They can muck up a pond something awful if you have too many or if they get very large which they will unless the heron or raccoons come for dinner. The bigger the pond the easier to maintain and much better water quality. Hope to see pics of your pond while you are making it as it's always fun to see a work in progress.
