Hi Guys,

Today i discovered two things in the pond.

1. A Frog, unfortunately no picture of him.
2. A load of eggs attached to a plant.

This is the first time we've had eggs, and if i hadn't of seen the frog i'd assume they're fish eggs, but now i'm not certain. The eggs are laid in lines on a plant and you can just make out the first stage of the embryo.

Can anyone say if this is fish or frog?

cheers,

Andy

because the dots are black, I'd have to say they're frog or toad eggs.

I vote for toads, they lay eggs side by side, frogs just dump them into the water and they float near the top in a jelly mass.

It's a tie: Frogs - 4
Toads- 4
Undecided- 1
Anyone else care to weigh in?

:) ok, thanks guys. So Toads or Frogs.... but definately not fish?

I'm guessing the Koi will eat the spawn/tadpoles anyway, so i think i'll leave it in place for now. It's fascinating watching them grow anyway.

cheers,

Andy.
