Looks like you have a filter in that 2nd picture similar to what was in my pond when I moved here. Is this made of PVC fencing with lava rock inside and PVC end caps? How do you like it as a bio filter?

oh no, no lava rocks here, i have a tetra pond bio filter semi converted to a sediment chamber feeding a 27 gallon skippy style filter. and it kept my overstocked pond crystal clear all last season, and my basement pond crystal clear till now, and i have yet to have to clean my skippy(and i do check it), it is stocked with 250 4"x6" scrubby pads, quartered. i only clean my mechanical pads in the tetra pond once a month, unless i see a decrease in flow. oh that black barrel on the floor of the basement pond is two tetra prefilters fastened together they trap 90% or more of solid waste.

well DrCase, your guess is as good as mine... we got 6" of snow yesterday, i'm watching it snow now, and its supposed to snow tomorrow too. weve had snow on Easter, so i am so cabin crazy right now, i cant stand it. if we could even hit the 50s, at least i could work on the remodeling of the pond.
Hi Koiguy!....It´s snowing here too..very much.:banghead3:../Björn

thanks, M.G.T. with all the goldies in your moms pool you should be able to put some colorful fish in your pond...some goldies look as good as a koi, and you have the benefit of being able to stock more of them in your pond, since they are cleaner, and max out at about 12".

its single cell algea alright your under water filter is probably not cutting the mustard, there are plans for a couple different style skippy filters... a 70 gallon stock tank, and 55 gallon barrels take a look at the 2 designs and compare, merge, or adapt to your own design...a 30 or 35 gallon trash can would probably serve you well, at 600 gals, bury it for a waterfall. or whatever. if your desperate use an algecide and then next add a flocculant, it will make the dead algea clump together so your filter can more easily trap it
