Dandridge TN cichlids not goldies
It is going to be a slow process. Project for this summer is to add to existing pond. I am going to add another pond and stream that is fed from existing pond. Will be making everything I can as usual that can be crafted at home. My pump moves 2300 gph so a 500 gallon addition along with my 1000gal existing pond I feel will be ok. The pond itself will be 9ft long x 18in deep x 6ft wide and a small stream will be connecting the 2 ponds it will be 6in deep approximately and filled with pea gravel about 4in. The new pond will be Slightly elevated for maximum flow back into existing pond. I will be bringing dirt in to build pond to get it elevated like I want and digging as little as possible. Another reason for this is I have 2 large walnut trees that I know roots extend to general area of new pond and a cedar tree stump directly behind so more roots and a underground electrical line to existing pond pump. That runs under the location where stream will be. Thinking of using rail road ties as a wall around new pond that step down to stream and disappear before reaching existing. All of these ideas are subject to change but I was asked when I first joined to start a thread when I put in my step on existing pond and was not sure how to go about it so hear will be a step by step of my addition and summer project. The drawing is my ruff draft and rail road tie retaining wall is incorrect but you can get the idea it will only be 3 ties high not 5. The bottom row will be anchored with 3ft rebar every 2ft and then oly lagged together when stacked.
