Fairly recent Cape Cod washashore, here, with a 800(?) gal. 4 ft deep pond, rock/concrete pond plus waterfall, that came with the house.
Starting taking care of it from scratch in 2010, I was able to do OK with pre-existing mostly goldfish, lots of frogs, irises and huge waterlily mother plant. The terrible cold spell of early 2015 and the very recent racoon raid took its toll...
Even though the large plants seem to do much of the work, I am just now restoring the prior owner homemade bio filter, a 20 gallon tote box with drip tubes, bio balls and bottom drain back into pond. The whole thing sitting and hidden behind the waterfall.
There.
I am learning a lot by checking the DIY forum section...!
