Help, how do I get the water feature started

Hi Addy, how many hours in the day should I run it, you think?
Or should I add a small surface fountain for the hours it doesn't run?

Even a small surface fountain the water will grow algae, water sun = algae. @sissy has a good suggestion just add some peroxide now and then, it kills algae. It will take some time to figure out how often and how much.

great thing is it does not harm critters that visit like pool chemicals will ,safe to drink for pets also as long as they do not drink water right after is added .I found out also in my stock tank and rain water barrels that it does stop mosquito's from being in the water .
