Plonking an old zinc tub in sight and firing a .22 pellet at it can frighten a heron off with a loud bang. Take great care the precious fishbag is not harmed, of course.

Predator nets for large ponds can be found

50'x50' $100 or so...

10-15 acre pond with Bass, and Tilapia. 4 Osprey, 2 Herons, and 2 Egrets, for certian. The owner has offered a reward for their dead carcass.
Well, the way I see it is this... What I've seen taken by the predators, has been the Tilapia, which were put in to feed the Bass. The Tilapia breed like rabbits, and outnumber the Bass. Let the birds take a few Tilapia, to thin the herd. The Osprey typically take the adults, and the others take older juveniles. Both of which are too big for the Bass to eat. They seldom get a bass, due to the much more visible Tilapia. The Tilapia won't survive the winter anyway, so let the birds have a few.
