Hello everyone, I'm Sharon from Weedsport, New York. My pond is 4000 gallons, kidney shaped, 3' deep on one end, 4 1/2' deep on the other and I have 9 large Koi. The pond is about 8 years old and is always green.... :(
My Koi seem happy and healthy, though. We did empty the pond about two months ago to clean and sort out all the goldfish that had multiplied and over crowed the pond. We got in the pond when it was about 18" deep and removed dozens of the decorative flat rocks that had fallen in over the years. To our surprise we found a 20" snapping turtle! Wow, did we get out of there fast! I think he had been in there a couple of years because I didn't notice any new goldfish and my lilies kept getting 'cut' off at the base.
We caught him and relocated him to some aquaducts about a mile from my home.
We brought all the goldfish to a local pond store.
We refilled the pond after rebuilding one side that had collasped, put our Koi back in and three days later.....huge algae bloom...all green again :( Unbelievable!
Now we have babies! I have caught about 50 of them and placed in a tank in my house. They are 1/2" to 1" long. I don't see any barbels on them yet, but hope to in the next couple of weeks when they get bigger.
I've never joined a forum before and I'm looking forward to spending time here.......

Thank you! I rebuilt the waterfall a week after emptying, cleaning and filling the pond....it was in sad shape! It was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be....my husband went golfing and he was pretty surprised when he got home! Here is a before, during and after pic.

Thanks, but I can't figure out how you make the links like you have. I know where to click to add a link, but that's it...how do you get your picture in there? LOL, I'm sure it's probably simple...

I go to the page where the information is and just copy the http:// and paste it in the signature area. Add a title so people know what the link is about.

Are you talking of pictures in the post or in the signature?

In the signature, like your The build: pond showcase, link.

Click on the my profile, under your name, click on edit my profile, click on signature. To add a picture load a picture or url into my media, then you browse for the picture you want to add and add it. I just added my pups pictures, had not done it before had to figure it out for you.

For the links just copy the link in the browser bar and past it in the signature area of your profile.
