Someone on Craigslist is selling Koi (12-24”) because their pond is too crowded. It is about a 45 minute drive from their house to mine. Would a large Koi be OK in a big plastic container for 45 minutes to an hour without circulating oxygen?

Thanks!

I have a cigarette lighter port. Can you buy pumps that run on DC?
I was a Marine Biologist a long, long ... long time ago. I did shark research. When we picked up small sharks in the Florida Keys, we would put them in plastic bags filled partly with water and partly with pure oxygen. I would guess that it is easier to get a DC air pump then a tank of oxygen.

Yes a large container with an open lid for air exchange would be fine but an air pump would be helpful.

Fortunately 45 minutes is not too terrible of a ride for most fish out there.

Unless you will be transporting in a sufficiently large container, my concern would be Ammonia toxicity. Large fish produce appreciable amounts of Ammonia. Large stressed fish even more.

Just for a fyi, your pond is 1500 gallons ? Dont get carried away with koi stocking as that's only suitable for 3 or 4 big koi and even then it's pushing it
