i run the 1000 gph pump for the basement pond. i posted a link to the venturi build back in the last post...evidently while you were posting too.... the venturi in the video sets in a 1&1/2" pipe (my filters down pipe).

I agree the T''s are good esp if you are turning a corner anyway. The thing I have always wondered is how much flow one looses by using the venturi. I tend to have lots of air so I may just stick with that.

I have come to the conclusion that air would not work well with this barrel filter as the bottom sections contains cut up pipe which forms convoluted paths to encourage solids to settle out. I do not think this would work well with air. I should be able to inject air into the 4 inch down pipe to up the O2 level a bit prior to the media.

The plan is to make some larger filters using the lifts we picked up last summer. There will be separate units for mechanical and biological so air injection will be used there. Still thinking about affordable bio media. So far the top runner is plastic snow fence.
