Lily buds

Just wondering why many lily buds don’t come to the surface and bloom. Many of mine start to open under water and then die eventually so I am forever cutting and removing. I still have at least two or three that make it above the surface and bloom

I can't answer your question, but some of my lilies do that too. Especially early in the season when they're first sending their buds up.
