Are there any signs or symptoms of a lotus tuber starting to rot? I had 2 pruned leaf stems break off under the surface of the water and I’m paranoid that water is getting in and rotting the tuber. One of the growth tips poking out of the soil appears to have softened. It almost feels like jelly (I will post a picture below). However, I’m not entirely sure if it was already like that before or not. I tied some string to it to keep it upright and hopefully out of the water.

If your tuber rots, you will know it . The plant will die.
