Had a preformed pond and took it out and put in a liner. It is not as big as most of you all but as big as i could put due to space. Purchased new equipment like a Laguna Clearflo 2100 with UV, Atlantic Filterfall, hoses etc. should be somewhere around 250 - 300 gallons.

Almost complete except for a few more bolders to hide waterfall a little more.

Need to repot my lotus plant and from what i have been reading may try the pea gravel way instead of dirt.

Sorry Koiguy but i do not. If you look and the one that just shows the hole being dug, the deeper part was the original. From there the side with the ledges is the new part. This was as far as i could go since my swimming pool is 3' from it.

The deepest part is 24", then steps up to 18", and the higher ledges are 12" from the top.

Very nice, love the rocks. Where are you at? judging by the plants, somewhere warmer than we are right now. Add it to your information it helps.

I have my lotus in pea gravel and lilies in clay cat litter, they do fine. Use the cheap clay cat litter (no additives). As long as you have fish to add nutrients to the water it should do fine, they are heavy feeders.

Some fertilize the plants lightly, some of the forum would say never fertilize a pond plant.

Test your water, I fill with well water, no chlorine. You can dechlor the water, when you put the comets back in, I would wait for a few weeks if not longer before you add other fish. Let the pond do some cycling.

Thanks j.w. I placed my 3 comets in yesterday and they seem to love the addition of the pond. So far they seem to be healthy and swimming around fine.

Thanks addy1. Now to try to keep it as clean as it is in the picture.

Not sure if it is good to do but i purchased a car wash brush and have been brushing the bottom and sides.

Sounds like you are keeping it cleaner than I keep my house!

A little algae growth won't hurt the pond, the fish like to nibble on it.
