So is it s male for sure then?It will still feel like sand paper as the males ues this rough skin to stimulate the females to release their eggs,
mating is very rough koi can lose scales if there are a few males and the female is not strong in some cases death can occur due to fatigue the german scale less koi are called doitsu,
From what I can see its a male you'd get a better view if the koi was upisde down totally but theres enough to say male in your photo.View attachment 79148
