    Yes it is heavy. I am just use to it. I do most of my work handholding the lens. I also have the 800mm which is a pound heaver, so this one is actually light ;)

    would make a good anchor if you ever got flooded...very nice! Thing is, looks more like the lens is holding YOU up, heh!
