I wouldn't have those railroad ties come in contact with the water. Creosote is in the right doses will kill your fish, as it is toxic.

What Health Risks does Creosote pose?

Because creosote is a general name for a mixture of different chemicals, and limited research on health effects has been completed, it is difficult to quantify the risks. Creosote has been classified by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a probable carcinogen. Studies have shown increased risk of cancer and respiratory problems in plant workers repeatedly exposed to creosote. Exposure to creosote on the skin has been shown to cause rash and irritation and in an extreme case, cancer. Direct skin contact with creosote poses the most likely health risks to people outside industrial applications.

the bog gardens been finished properly now (slate rears, soil levels taken flush to top, compost mixed in, lots of water and planted up properly), 10x fish in, about to upgrade pump, much bigger uvc and cosmetic touches to rest of pond.

update time, its been a good few months since this was built and planted up, and with a fair bit of rain and sun later has really established. The filters practically maintenanceless and keeping the water spot on clear, and the fish are growing at an alarming rate!!

Electronics are finished, with the lamp post thing painted on one switch, and a pondside switch controlling the bog garden lights and the underwater halogens along the front edge. Looks incredible at night. Even have Newts pottering about the bog garden/waterfall!!

Going to have to replace the waterfall sometime next summer with something more perminent, the woods not liking the full exposure to water and is already softening off a lot - although looks beautifull with the moss we introduced (yogurt fed).

whats next!?
