Wish you had a camera set up to view it all. That would be cool!

If it weren't so far away I would hook up a web cam.

I did get a little bit of turtle footage yesterday though.

and today I secured the chicken wire.

Very cool! I'm assuming you already googled "painted turtle eggs" or saw laying activity on youtube? The eggs are pretty large in relation to the turtle's size - about the size of their head, and white. I hope you can keep the grass roots from infiltrating the nesting site - otherwise the little dudes might be sealed under the lawn when they hatch.

I have seen quite a few videos on it, but not recently. I also had the thought of grass sealing them in too and have been waiting for a response from the DNR to see what they have to say.

We just got back yesterday after spending the weekend with our daughter and son in law. They live in southern Utah and I just love the scenery down there. :) I took a bunch of pictures.

This Red Admiral wouldn't leave me alone:

I found a bunch of brand new baby Toads, some still had tails:

and this Painted Turtle was walking down the path, likely headed to lay eggs.

JB you have a lot of stuff going on for just one walk in the woods today. Neat pix! I only saw a squirrel running across the road today on my walk................oh and a swallowtail butterfly which are so pretty. Couldn't get a pic of them tho as they were on the move.

Pecan I have never been to Utah. It is very pretty, the rock formations are so red. Very cool. Did you pick up some more rocks? :)

So, I was walking in my backyard with my dad tonight and I head a noise in the grass, turn my head and see a little animal kind of excitedly coming up to me. My dad had a flashlight so I told him to quick turn it on and its a little skunk! Freaked me out! Really funny how curious it seemed. We had no idea where it came from, maybe saw us from afar and ran to us.

I saw a large skunk earlier today on a bike ride. Had to stop and wait for it to cross the road. Don't see too many skunks so its odd I saw two in one day.
