Hello, everyone. I am looking forward to reading about your ponds. I just added a 500 gallon patio pond. Iam interested in inroducing goldfish. Any important tips you can share? Thanks!

Keep your numbers small, they will have kids. Shubunkins would look nice in that pond too.

Hi nduoc, Welcome from another Chicagoan. I have only goldfish in a 600 gallon pond. If you just built it then read up how to cycle a pond before introducing any fish. It's always better to start slower. If you live close to north suburbs feel free to send me a pm and I'll be happy to give you some free floaters.

Hope you will be bringing them in during the winter because 500 gallons will freeze

Welcome!!
My small pond is under 100 gals and it doesn't freeze, going on the 6th year. Of course, I don't get those freezing winds off of a gigantic lake like you do though either nduoc! Lol
