Kinda timely, as someone was asking about night shots and I'd just taken a few. I posted on an earlier thread how my underwater lights looked, just to show how the LED version with filters looked, and thought I'd post an update as the plants have begun to fill in. All pics were taken with available light, mainly the underwater LEDs and some solar path lights.

The longer the shutter is open, the more the available light is able to build, hence a couple of these reflect that effect. But for the most part, I adjusted in PP so the pics are more representative of what I see while sitting on the patio at night.

Thanks, j.w.; it's quite peaceful at night. I also have strung a single line of LEDs at the top of the pondhouse for just a bit more ambiance light, but wanted to show what it looked like with only the ground lights in effect. I was going to only use the white light LEDs for the underwater/falls lighting but was overruled by my wife and son, who voted for blue on that end. Surely does glow, huh?

Thanks again for looking.

The Blue water fall is a killer shot, I LIKE that effect! I think my vote goes with the wifey and son on that one.

Michael maybe you posted this in an earlier thread, but could you please post a link to the type of lights you are using?

Thanks for looking, everyone.

Mucky: I use LED underwater lights made by Jebao. Link from ebay below. They were the most cost effective unit I could find and seem to be holding up great.

fishin:

the blue IS effective, I have to admit that. It's even cool when the falls has algae on it and the blue + green mix. Though my aim is to eradicate the string algae sooner rather than later.

Thanks again, Becky, Addy, Figgy.

Thanks for adding the link. I have actually been thinking of something like that. I'm looking for low voltage LED spot lights that aren't for underwater use. But I might get a set of those as well. I've always liked the underwater effects, just hate replacing...lol

Thanks Doug, Larkin, and RebelA.

Larkin; I have LED spotlights as my entry lighting (outdoor) and they work well. Also got them from ebay; they screw into a normal incandescent fixture base. I think mine have 9 leds, something along the line of:

http://www.ebay.com/...=item4ab9acd5a8

So far, they've lasted a lot longer than the incandescents I used to use and at 3w, certainly use up less power (they come on only at night). The underwater versions have been submerged now since mid March and are doing well; I recommend their usage. I have mine on a switch and can turn them on whenever I wish. You could also hook them up to a photoeye or timer.

RebelA;

These are pretty small, I'd say when not bent at a 90 degree turn (that is, they have a hinge between the base and light so you can change the display angle or in my case, I bend the units to fit the substrate I'm standing them on) they're probably 5 inches long, 1 1/2" diameter and have 12 leds per light, with each light having 5 different colored lenses to change the color as you wish.

I really like the blue lights on the waterfall also, stealing the idea... :)

I dug out my colored covers to get the blue ones and found out they had been sitting in a box with a spray can of "off" bug spray that leaked. Will soaking in anti-bacterial dial soap be ok?

I left them soaking overnight in the soap/water mix but I'm still a little paranoid to put them back in the waterfall.
