Hi

Newbie here - any help suggestions appreciated.

10 year old outdoor, 1750 litre pond with a sheet pond liner (LDPE?). Brick edged - bricks have been laid onto a bed of mortar.

I fill the pond with water to just touch the bottom edge of the bricks. Within 12 hours the level has dropped by 2" (50mm).

Following a major "clean & tidy" I thought "this is time to sort out this leak!"

I've filled it up, turned off pumps / fountains etc - so no movement - let it drop, then tried to find any damage........no luck! Hence my request here!

I'm tempted to mask off the brickwork with masking tape - then find a really thick black paint to daub all way round the top 3" - any suggestions?

Or......

Mask off again - then fill the gap / area where the mortar is between liner & brick with "some sort of gobbo" - black, waterproof, fish friendly, filler - like a waterproof paste / filler? something that can be pushed into cracks / crevices but wont slump out...in effect black mortar - using a spatula?

Any ideas

Yours hopefully

Stuart

Need to know which kind of liner as some are not so hardy :https://pondinformer.com/pond-liner-material-guide/ Somebody here suggested putting milk around edge of pond to see where the water draws it out from. Maybe pictures would be good so we can actually see where the brick and pond liner connect etc.

Hello and welcome!

When it drops to 2”, is that as far as it goes, or does it continue to lose water? What kind of liner is it? Pictures might help, as well.
